Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988 Victoria Osondu Adefala is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme court of Nigeria. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree from the University of Lagos Nigeria and attended the Nigerian Law School Victoria Island Lagos. In 1991 Victoria obtained a Master of Laws in International Law- LL.M (Specialty areas, Energy Law / Technology Transfer Laws / International Transactions) from the University of Houston Bates Law School, Houston, Texas. While there she worked as an Associate with the Law Office of Ken Okorie & Associates, Houston Texas. Victoria also studied for Post Baccalaureate Credits in International Relations from the University Of Houston Graduate School Of Political Science.
Victoria’s career and experience over has spanned the Manufacturing Sector where she spent sixteen years with the Michelin Group (the foremost French Multinational Tyre manufacturer). She actively participated in the business community of Manufacturers and she has strong experience and knowledge of the sector. In this period amongst other departments, Victoria worked at the Legal department of the company at the Michelin Head Quarters in Clermont Ferrand France. Victoria rose to be an Executive Director in Michelin Nigeria responsible for all Government Relations for the Group in the country. In this role she was extensively exposed to the practice of Lobbying and Government relations through Work Groups, conferences and workshops covering France, Washington, and the European Union Head Quarters in Brussels. Victoria is a founding Partner of Whitgift Law. She took a leave of absence from the Law firm to answer to an opportunity to be the Nigeria Country President of Alstom Group (the Leading French Power and High Speed Train Manufacturer).Victoria Adefala has been a key figure in the Nigerian Power sector and her immediate experience in the sector (local and international) is extensive. Victoria is also knowledgeable about the Rail Transport business having participated in several Rail Development initiatives in Nigeria and within the Alstom Group. Victoria sits on the Board of several organizations and businesses including Guaranty Trust Bank PLC; United Securities Limited ( Registrars); The French Nigeria Chamber of Commerce ( FNCCI); Societe Francaise Orange Middle East And Africa.( Orange Telecom) and she is continuously in touch with developments in Commerce and industry. Following her voluntary exit from Alstom Group in January 2016 (after nearly 8 years), she has returned to Whitgift Law as Managing Partner. Victoria Adefala is a keen Leadership Scholar and has completed Executive Leadership Programmes at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business New York, the Stanford University Graduate School of Business California, as well as INSEAD Business School, France.
